Included is a variety of information for parents regarding proper equipment for the program as well as frequent questions. Please see the seasonal information to adequately prepare for our programs. It is always recommended to have an additional bag of clothing with spare items in case clothing gets wet or muddy. Layers are always recommended to be able to appropriately adapt to the climate. When the children have the proper gear they can more fully engage with the natural world.
Spring and Fall: The weather in these seasons can vary day to day and week to week. With warm days and cooler mornings and late afternoons, layers are especially important. For morning sessions light layers should suffice with an optional jacket in case the weather turns. Afternoon students should be prepared for the temperature drops that happen late fall and early spring with some warm layer options.
Summer: Summer months can be warm in the bay area. Wearing light layers that are also light in color can help to shield the impact of the sun, keep you cool, and provide protection. We spend a lot of time in creeks during the summer so footwear that can get wet is recommended.
Winter: wool or fleece clothing and socks are recommended to keep our participants warm and dry. These materials help you stay warm, even when wet. Cotton is not very effective once it gets wet. Rain boots, pants, and jackets are needed for rainy days.
